Art that reflects San Diego
At Prebys Foundation, we believe creativity is essential to a vibrant and thriving San Diego. That belief extends beyond the organizations and artists we support and into the spaces where we work, gather, and imagine what is possible.
We commissioned three San Diego artists to create original murals for our office, inviting each to bring their own creative perspective to the people, cultures, landscapes, and ideas that shape our region. The artists and concepts were selected for their creativity and originality, their connection to San Diego and its diverse communities, and their alignment with Prebys’ values of creativity, equity, and community well-being.
Informed by input from Prebys staff and shaped by each artist’s distinct practice, the murals explore ideas of belonging, nature, culture, community, innovation, and our connections to one another. Together, they offer three unique perspectives on San Diego and invite us to reflect on the future we are creating together.

Although each mural is distinctly its own, common threads run through the collection: belonging and identity, our relationship with nature, the strength found in community, and a sense of possibility for San Diego’s future.

Interconnected
By Alicia María Siu
A sweeping journey across San Diego County connects people, ecosystems, cultures, science, art, and generations. Through landscapes ranging from the mountains and desert to the Pacific Ocean, Interconnected explores a central idea: the well-being of people, culture, and the environment cannot be separated from one another.
Rising Tide
By Celeste Byers
Drawing from San Diego's multicultural and multigenerational community, Rising Tide brings together people, landscapes, architecture, and cultural touchstones in a shared movement toward the future. The mural reflects themes of innovation, opportunity, belonging, and shared purpose that emerged through conversations with Prebys staff.
Between Two Points
By Thao Huynh French
Inspired by San Diego's ecological history, Between Two Points brings attention to the plants, wildlife, landscapes, and cultural histories that surround us, including species whose existence has become increasingly fragile. Through movement, contrast, and color, the work considers the relationship between human well-being and the health of the natural world.
