We’re excited to share that Nahid Habib has officially joined the Prebys Foundation as our new Senior Accountant.
With over two decades of experience in accounting at organizations including Intellicheck and Accel Robotics, Nahid brings both deep expertise and a genuine passion for helping others. Known throughout her career as the go-to person to lend a hand, Nahid has already made her mark at the Foundation. During her year as a contractor, she has helped with implementing new systems, improving processes, and embracing the many hats that come with supporting the multiple facets of Prebys.
Nahid is driven by a core belief that finance and accounting are essential tools that help leadership make informed decisions in pursuit of a meaningful mission. That alignment with the Foundation’s goals is part of the reason she is joining our team full-time.
“We are very excited that Nahid Habib has officially joined the Prebys team as a full-time employee!” says Matt Bertsch, Director of Finance and Accounting. “She’s already been instrumental in maintaining our day-to-day financial activities and pushing forward several initiatives.”
Born in Afghanistan, Nahid came to the United States at age nine after her family fled during the Soviet invasion. Starting over was difficult, she recalls, but it shaped her resilience. She began working at 15 to help support her family and later put herself through school while working full time — a testament to her determination and drive.
“Be persistent. Don’t give up,” she says, a message she shares with her son, with other immigrants, and with anyone facing hardship. “It’ll get better.”
Outside of work, Nahid finds joy in walks on the beach, social time over tea or coffee, cooking and baking, and spending time with her husband, son, and mother. She also loves to travel and explore new cultures.
